Our guests tell us we are near the best Mountain Biking in Michigan. Here are directions to a few of the nearby trails.
1. Briar Patch Mountain Bike Trail – (5 minute drive) This is the closest trail to Chain O Lakes Campground. It's just down to the left (east) going on M-88 about a mile until you see the first entrance sign for Shanty Creek / Schuss Mtn. Take the left and go down a few hundred yards until you see a two-track trail on the left. Park there and there will be a sign saying “Briar Patch Mountain Bike Trail” right there! It's about a 5-mile single track trail and well marked.
2. Boyne Ski Resort Mountain Bike Trail – (30 minute drive) This trail is located right at the Boyne Ski Resort. The trail head is located directly behind the tennis courts.
3. Aspen Park Mountain Bike Trail – (30 minute drive) This trail is located right in downtown Gaylord. Just head to town down Main street, turn right on Maple street and drive out behind the Middle School. That's where the trail starts.
